Terms of use

Last updated: May 28, 2026

These are the terms that govern your use of bellwether.market. We’ve kept them as short and plain as we could. The summary at the top covers the important parts; the detail below is the actual binding agreement.

By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t, please don’t use the site.

TL;DR — what you’re agreeing to

  • You’re 18 or older — and 21 or older where state law requires it for prediction-market platforms (Iowa requires 21+ for Kalshi, for example).
  • Bellwether is an editorial publication, not a financial advisor, broker, or law firm. Nothing here is investment, legal, or tax advice.
  • Our content is ours. You can read, share, and quote it with attribution. You can’t republish it wholesale.
  • Some links on Bellwether are affiliate links. We disclose them. See our affiliate disclosure.
  • Trading event contracts involves real risk of loss. We don’t guarantee outcomes. Use the platforms at your own discretion.
  • These terms can change. If they do, the “Last updated” date at the top changes too.

Who we are

Bellwether is operated as an independent editorial publication at bellwether.market. Editor: Dana Okafor. We are not a registered broker, a dealer, a futures commission merchant, a designated contract market, a swap execution facility, or any other CFTC-registered entity. We are a publisher.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this site. Some content describes prediction-market platforms that themselves require users to be 21 or older in specific states — Iowa requires 21+ for Kalshi, for example. Verifying your own eligibility for any platform we cover is your responsibility. The platform handles its own age and residency checks at signup.

You must be a US resident for most of the platforms we cover. If you are accessing the site from outside the US, the affiliate offers and platform availability described may not apply to you.

Acceptable use

You can read every page. You can subscribe to the newsletter. You can share any page link or quote up to a few sentences with attribution to bellwether.market.

You can’t:

  • Republish full articles on another site, in print, or in an aggregator without our written permission.
  • Scrape the site to train AI models commercially without our written permission.
  • Frame, mirror, or proxy the site to obscure its origin.
  • Use bellwether.market to defraud, harass, defame, or otherwise harm anyone.
  • Reverse-engineer or attack the site’s infrastructure.

If your use causes us to incur material costs (legal, hosting, takedown), we may seek to recover those costs.

Intellectual property

All editorial content on bellwether.market — articles, guides, reviews, comparisons, framing language, visual treatments — is the property of Bellwether. Trademarks and logos of third-party platforms (Kalshi, Polymarket, Robinhood, and others) belong to their respective owners and are used here for editorial reference under fair use.

You retain ownership of anything you submit to us — for example, an email reply with feedback. By sending it, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to quote it in editorial content, anonymized unless you tell us we can name you.

Affiliate relationships

Bellwether earns commission when you sign up for some platforms via our /go/ links. We disclose this relationship clearly on every page that contains an affiliate link, and at length on our affiliate disclosure page. The commission does not change how we cover a platform. We have published unfavorable analysis of platforms we earn commission from, and favorable analysis of platforms we earn nothing from. Editorial decisions live in editorial; commercial decisions live in commercial; they don’t trade.

Not investment, legal, or tax advice

Nothing on bellwether.market is investment advice, legal advice, or tax advice. We are publishers, not advisors. Reading our reviews or guides does not create an advisor-client relationship.

Prediction markets are speculative. You can lose your entire stake on any given contract. State legality is contested in places (especially for sports event contracts), tax treatment depends on your specific situation, and platform terms can change. For advice on your own situation, consult a licensed financial advisor, attorney, or CPA in your jurisdiction.

“As is” — no warranties

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranty — express or implied — that the content is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose. We try hard to be accurate and we cite our sources, but the prediction-market category moves quickly, and a fact that was current when we wrote it may not be current when you read it. Always verify with the platform or regulator directly before acting on anything.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors. We make no warranty regarding third-party platforms we link to.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bellwether — including Dana Okafor personally and any contributors — is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, your reliance on its content, or your interaction with any third-party platform we cover. This includes (without limitation) trading losses, missed opportunities, regulatory enforcement against you, or data loss.

If a court declines to enforce that limitation, our maximum aggregate liability to you is capped at one hundred US dollars ($100).

Third-party platforms and links

When you click a /go/ link or any external link, you leave bellwether.market and enter another company’s site. Their terms, privacy policy, and conduct are not ours. We do not control them, we don’t endorse everything they do, and we are not responsible for what happens on their platforms.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms when our practices, the law, or the category materially change. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is material, we will note it visibly on this page for thirty days.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware. If a Delaware court declines jurisdiction, the courts of the State of Finland (where the editor is based) are the alternative forum.
