Background
Avery has nearly a decade of experience covering US derivatives markets, with a particular focus on the rise of CFTC-regulated event contracts. Her work has consistently sat at the intersection of long-form market-mechanics reporting and regulatory analysis — order-book depth, settlement architecture, fee schedules, custody, and product-approval pathways.
She joined Bellwether in early 2026 because she thinks the US prediction-market category needs editorial coverage that takes the mechanics seriously and treats the regulatory landscape as an active story instead of a static disclaimer.

How she works
Avery’s editorial defaults are unfashionably honest. She doesn’t write “guaranteed wins” copy. She doesn’t quote prices without timestamps. She files her own 1099-Bs every January and reads every CFTC order published that week — partially because the markets desk requires it, partially because she enjoys it.
If you find a factual error in something she wrote, write to her directly: she’d rather fix it within the day than be wrong on the internet.

Avery does not hold positions on any platform Bellwether actively reviews while a review is in active drafting. Once a review is published, she may take small personal positions on platforms covered, which would be disclosed in subsequent pieces if the position is material.
